Fleet Ilya

Fleet Ilya was originally founded as a brand of luxury handmade restraint objects by the Russian born Ilya Fleet, who trained in traditional saddle making. The Boundries between fashion and bondage became blurred when Resha Sharma, a Central St.Martins design gruduate joined Ilya as his creative partner and wife shortly afterwards.

All of the handcrafted pieces in the range reflect Ilya's traditional craftmanship and fetish origins, combied with Resha's fashion knowledge, giving them a dark elegance. Under the influence of two creative minds and with a spirit of true independence, the label has grown into one of the most celebrated accessory labels coming out of London.

The attention to detail is superb, and all pieces are hand made in England.

Vim Beget

'The means by which you create is of equal importance
as the final result...'

Vim Beget design and make jewellery and accessories completely by hand starting with raw, fundamental materials.

Necklaces start as wire on a spool and are hand-woven one ring at a time. Each ring is separately hand woven into a strand of a chain. Leather goods are cut, hand braided, dyed and sewn completely in house.

'We believe in the process and that the process is what makes the end result good or bad. We also believe that while quality is a trait that should be aimed for, perfection is a boring, dirty word.'

Vim Beget is available exclusively in Australia at Fallow

Tettmann.Doust

Tettmann.Doust is the label of Naomi Tettmann and Elke Doust.

The design duo are a unique addition to the Australian fashion industry, offering thematic collections which investigate annual pattern blocks and original print and embellishment design.

Rather than follow the trends of the market, Tettmann.Doust is simply the result of complimentary oppositions and contrasts between the designers aesthetics. Great attention is paid to every single detail and the emphasis is always on innovation. A fresh approach to modern tailoring results in beautifully detailed, cutting-edge garments which remain highly functional.

'Aves Insecta' AW12 investigates the designers' interest in aesthetics associated with the classification, science and study of nature. Initial pattern-block sketches and a complex digital print were designed and developed by drawing inspiration from the anatomy of aves and insecta - birds and insects. The collection features a mix of beautifully draped and structured garments that simultaneously express a dark sophistication and whimsical sense of wonder. Embellishments of hand worked beading and embroidery, original digital prints and an emphasis on luxe natural fabrics such as silk, bamboo and fine calf leather reveal an easy luxury central to the label’s ethos. The kaleidoscopic print pays homage to the vibrant plumage of the Rainbow Bee-eater and luminescent wings of the Christmas beetle, displayed against a contrasting backdrop of black in varying shades and textures.

Maripossa

Self-taught Australian designer Lauren Besser is guided by experimentation and instinct.

It was during travels through Africa and Central and South America, and the remarkable women she encountered hand making craft as a means to live.

A frustration with the lack of available creative designs, and the desire to convey the often contradictory intricacies of daily life experiences via a wearable medium, led Lauren to follow her passion for making her own jewellery and accessories which evolved into MARIPOSSA.

Maripossa’s first collection was released in Australia in 2010. Within a year the label was invited to showcase its' artisan jewellery in Germany, receiving the Young Designer Award for Accessories during F/W 2011/12 Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week.

Laura’s designs reinforce the concept of opposition using sterling silver and natural crystal embellishments fused together with fine mixed-metal chain, hand-woven into intricate artisan pieces. The fine, yet coarse material, transforms into a soft, fabric-like metal artwork. This idea of contradiction and ambiguity rests at the core of MARIPOSSA.

Maripossa’s pieces are complex, convoluted and unique to the individual. Moulds are not used in any of the jewellery and each piece is hand oxidized ensuring a quality finish.

Maripossa will be arriving at FALLOW shortly.  To be notified upon it's arrival, simply email us at info@fallow.com.au

Richard Söderberg

'obscur is a language for the creator, a language intended to express a certain view of the world and a reaction. a reaction to the impureness and inconsistency that surrounds us'

Born in Helsingborg in the south of Sweden, Richard Söderberg spent his childhood moving around frequently. Raised in a rather controlled environment, he developed an anti-statement mentality towards everything, a feeling which he kept inside while showing a normal face on the outside.
Instead of sulking and withdrawing to his dark feelings though, Richard has preferred to turn them into something productive. His ambition and drive in everything he gets involved with has resulted in the birth of a label, Obscur, through which he expresses his feelings and personality in the form of garments.

Richard creates clothes after absorbing the spirit of the dark and misty landscapes of his home country. His deep love of dark Scandinavian music is also of great inspiration and has been translated into the garments.
We asked Richard what music he is currently listening to..

Draped fabrics, washed leathers and muted colours provide the signature elements to his work. He uses an array of linens, wools, cottons and leathers, developing new fabrics by melting them together or blending dyes and structures. He is also known to explore surfaces and insides, dye processes and fits, rather than shapes and silhouettes.

Exposing layers of raw edges, garments are double or tripled layered sometimes combining rigid materials with softer ones fusing leather with sheer fabrications.A raw and naked finish is often used to expose the handcraft within the garment.Treated and hand-altered leather is commonly used as it is in authentic, traditional scandinavian clothes.

Richard is to some extent trying to create all-round key garments that can easily worn by different personalities to create the perfect balance of an outfit heavy and stiff materials create beautiful armour on the outside with a soft inner core.

To quote his manifesto:
Obscur is not about being drawn to extremes, but rather an urge to refine classic silhouettes to perfection. Honest and powerful expression reveals the true design behind the garments, and therefore minimal styling is required. Achieving a pure esthetic can be difficult as there are many elements to consider.

'the world is constantly changing, but obscur’s raw and straightforward view on beautiful garments, however, not something that can be compromised on'
